Photo Journalism

For this assignment, I decided to record the day of my dad's memorial service which was Friday February 12, 2010. Lots of family was coming and I was doing a brunch before the service. No pressure there.

OnThursday the snow hit the two major parts of the Country that my family was lived: The North East and Dallas. Half the family made it. Since I was working on the brunch as well as photographing it...it was easier to use auto white balance.

The color shift is evident sometimes, but overall it wasn't as bad as I expected. That's one of the things I like about this class....its OK to make mistakes or have camera problems ... they are a learning opportunity. With film...I always was happy if I had one or two good shots. With digital I can take a lot more, but the ratio of good images to total images is still similar. I notice I still often don't take the time to really look at all of what I am including (or leaving out). My pictures seem to be all over the place. Some well composed and others just a crap shoot.
I'd like to blame that on the NEW camera....but I shoot then think -- good
thing its a camera and not a gun.
